Broccoli is a kind of cruciferous plant. It is a popular vegetable with delicious taste. It is not only comprehensive in variety, but also high in content. It mainly includes protein, carbohydrate, fat, mineral and so on. Broccoli seeds are rich in radish glucoside, its content is 20-50mg/g, which is 60-70 times higher than that of mature plants, and is a good raw material for extracting radish glucoside.

From sulforaphane to sulforaphane, you just need to chew!

Sulforaphyl glucosinolates, that is, glucosinolates (glucosinolates, as glucosinolates), and their degradation products are isothiocyanates, mainly Sulforaphane (SFN). SFN also known as "sulforaphane", in addition to broccoli, in Gai Lan, the northern round carrots and other cruciferous plants are also rich in content, is an antioxidant, and so far the vegetables found in the best anticancer effect of plant active substances. When eating these vegetables, radish glucosinolates are converted into active substance sulforaphane when you chew.

Studies have shown that sulforaphane can improve the body's ability to detoxify, anti-oxidation and anti-cancer ability, but also protect the skin from UV damage. Given such a special ingredient, broccoli is a leader in green vegetables, and scientists have never been less concerned about it.

Inhibition of the efficacy of obesity has been confirmed

A joint research group, which was made up of the Deputy professor of field heir in the field of medical care, Kanazawa University, Japan, found that the rich content of "sulforaphane" in the bud of broccoli has the effect of inhibiting obesity.

The study group divided mice into two groups: high fat diet containing sulforaphane and high fat diet without sulforaphane. Then the weight of each mouse was measured and compared. The results showed that the body weight gain of mice in sulforaphane bait intake group was about 15% compared with that in mice without sulforaphane intake group. In addition, the amount of visceral fat decreased by about 20%. In further studies, two aspects of sulforaphane have been discovered. One is that sulforaphane can increase the molecular "uncoupling protein 1 (UCP-1") in adipocytes, which can promote the "fat cell browning" that increases energy consumption and fat burning. Second, sulforaphane can improve the imbalance of intestinal flora caused by high fat diet, reduce the concentration of "endotoxin" in the blood which can cause inflammation, and inhibit the chronic inflammation in the adipose tissue and liver, and then play a role in preventing diabetes and other living habits.

In this clear two effects, the team believes that sulforaphane in the bud of broccoli can improve insulin resistance by inhibiting adipose tissue and liver inflammation and improving blood sugar levels, and is expected to play a role in living habits related diseases. In addition, in order to verify the effectiveness and safety of the component in human beings, a close step will be done in the future to develop the sulforaphane in the future for the development of functional food that can increase energy consumption and improve the intestinal environment in order to make it play a greater role.

Study on the efficacy of prevention of depression

The center for social mental health education, Chiba University in Japan, announced in August 14, 2016 that it has proved that carhanus, a source of broccoli, has the efficacy of preventing depression and inhibiting the recurrence of depression through a mouse test.

Small mice and large mice that are easy to invade small mice were prepared. The experiment lasted for 10 days, and the rats were bullied by small rats for 10 minutes a day, which made them feel stressed. Mice are suffering from depression by creating an environment similar to human feelings of failure.

Normal healthy mice can drink granulated sugar water with a concentration of 70% to 80%, whereas depressed mice under this stress can only drink about 50% of the sugar water. However, if sulforaphane from broccoli was injected into the depressive mice, the depressive mice could drink about 70% concentrations of sugar water like healthy mice, thus avoiding the symptoms of depressive symptoms.

In addition, the researchers injected the sulforaphane precursors into the young rats, and confirmed that their compressive strength was significantly enhanced.

The new choice of diabetic patients

The research team at Gothenburg University in Sweden has shown that sulforaphane has hypoglycemic effects in humans. The study was just published in the June 14, 2017 Science Translational Medicine. The research team recruited 97 people with type II diabetes who were given high concentrations of sulforaphane or placebo every three months. In addition to three of the subjects tested, the other subjects took metformin and took the drug during the trial. The three subjects were able to control blood sugar levels relatively well without metformin. The dose of sulforaphane used by the research team is about 100 times that of broccoli. The researchers said, "this is equivalent to eating 5 kilograms of broccoli a day."

The team found that the average blood sugar level of the subjects taking sulforaphane decreased by 10% compared with the placebo group. Diabetic obese patients with "abnormal regulation" have the largest reduction in blood glucose levels, and their baseline blood glucose levels are the highest. Although 10% does not sound so much, it is enough to reduce the risk of complications in the eyes and kidneys.

They also found that sulforaphane was completely different from metformin in lowering blood sugar levels. The latter makes cells more sensitive to insulin response, allowing cells to clean up too much sugar in the blood. In contrast, sulforaphane reduces the level of glucose injected into the blood first, by inhibiting the enzyme activity of the liver that drives glucose. Because they solve different problems in different ways, the research team is confident that these two drugs can complement each other. Sulforaphane can be used as an alternative to metformin, so those who are afraid of kidney problems can take sulforaphane. Finally, because sulforaphane can reduce glucose production, it can help diabetics to avoid diabetes, plus other new therapies, and may eventually win over type II diabetes. Now, the research team is working with the Swedish farmers' Association to find out that the pollen is approved as a drug.

New identity -- water extract of broccoli seeds from "new food ingredients"

In March 2015, our country accepted the "Broccoli seed extract" of American Brassica company as the new food raw material (No. 2015), No. 0002 of Wei Jin Xin Jin Shen word (No. 0002). It was officially announced in June 8, 2017. The name of the notice is "water extract from broccoli seed", which is only one word difference between the name of the material and the specification. According to Siti bridge media, American Brassica company was founded in 1997; the independent management of carrot glucosinolates in broccoli was obtained in 1998; in 2000 it was introduced to Japan; in 2001, the SGS brand was created and carrot glucosinolates extracted from the seeds of broccoli were used in nutritional supplements, functional food and green tea; and broccoli in 2009. The sales of sub extracts increased significantly in the United States; in 2015, the SGS brand was changed to truebroc brand; in June 2017, new food materials were approved in China.

A small hand in transboundary applications

1. Super sprout

Broccoli has always been regarded as a beauty and weight reducing food, and is very popular in Japan. The Japanese study found that there were not much SFN in broccoli, and the three days of broccoli sprout was called broccoli. According to the variety, the content of SFN was about 7-20 times that of the normal broccoli. Among them, SFN, which is more abundant, is defined as super sprouts for sale by businessmen. This super sprout can often be seen in supermarkets in Japan.

2, tea bag & Coffee & Powder & solid drink

The glucosinolates were identified by GRAS in the United States. Tea drinks and coffee, which contain the raw materials, are sold in the United States, Canada and Southeast Asia, and health claims to enhance immunity and support overall health.

3, chewing tablets & tablet candy

4, capsule

In addition, sulforaphane is a molecule in cosmetics. As an antioxidant, the key ingredients to resist ultraviolet light are used in various ointment, cream, and emulsion to play a good skin care effect.

With the adoption of glucosinolates as a new food raw material regulation, it is believed that glucosinolates will not be limited to the market of beauty and health care products. In the future, there will be a great deal of food in the field of food.
